I LOVED my Saturday morning cartoons! TMNT, Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Thundercats, Gargoyles, Tex Bravestarr, He-Man & She-Ra, Transformers, Looneytunes, the old X-Men on Fox, Spider-Man, Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs. the old Batman series

I’ve actually been re-watching Gargolyes and it holds up really really well. I seem to recall it was one of the first cartoons to be a little darker and serious, and also one of the first to have recurring story lines. I’m in late season 2 right now, and we’re still trying to resolve things from early season one. It has really complex characters and plot lines, for a cartoon anyway.

One that does NOT hold up well at all is Tex Bravestarr. I LOVED that show as a kid and recently got a chance to see some again and . . . wow. Aside from the fact that one of the central aspects of the show is a problematic appropriation of a quasi-Native American spirituality, it’s just a shitty cartoon
